With the last beta release, we are on the fast track to a 4.2 version. At this stage, I would like to collect as much feedback as possible before going public. Now is the best time to share your thoughts on virtually anything regarding the beta.
-
This release comes as a patch to the last beta. It's simply a few fixes to prepare for the 4.2 release. Fixed: -Electricity Tower (Chain Lightning) -Voodoo Tower (Maledict) -Floating Text Spacing Element TD 4.2 Beta5b.w3x
-
If you're interested in helping out with beta testing send me a PM.
-
It isn't? Perhaps his filename isn't specifically "Element TD 4.1b.w3x" but the version is the same?
-
Based on the screenshot, it does look like the official map. Is there something I overlooked?

The wait is over. This is it. Nothing new between this and the 4.2 release. Enjoy! First: In order to play the beta, you must type -gophers before the first round spawns. If you do not do so, the game will end. Make sure to put to good use the -level, -gold, and -lumber commands. Second: The following things are no cause for concern: -Nothing! Third: Things to test: Towers. Flame, Flamethrower, Mushroom, VaporKick. Try it.Floating Text. Working? Fourth: Here is the changelog: -Optimized floating text and prevented limit cutoff -Optimized trigger dealing with random bosses, hopefully reduced spawning lag -Optimized loading time slightly -Hopefully fixed the rare "towers stop attacking etc." bug -Optimized kick system, now uses -kick only -Minor optimizations to various triggers -Sunburn effect now continues on after death of unit, gfx lag reduced, now texttag indicating stack amount -Napalm effect buffed to 1500 damage up from 1000, now texttag indicating amount, mark (buff apply) area to 250 up from 150 -Condense/Evaporate have a new gfx, improved tooltips -Fixed Spore Cloud not upgrading with tower upgrades, increased spore damage to 300 up from 200, reduced range to 900 from 1500, reduced AoE from 375 to 250 -Changed Frostbite tooltip for clarity -Added Deaod Element TD 4.2 Beta5.w3x

Nice to hear you like it so far. I await your feedback on vapor/flame/mushroom.
-
Yup.

How does the TextTag native do it then? I used the same offset for SetTextSplatPosUnit() as I was using for SetTextTagPosUnit() but got different results... What can we do about this? Virtually all the instances of TextSplat are above a unit, so this is important.
-
Great, I will implement and test tonight.

Nice . I will implement and test tonight.

I implemented it and got it working. I encountered a bug though. When using the SetTextSplatPosUnit() function, the height offset parameter translated to a plain old z offset from 0. Shouldn't it be z offset from head or overhead of the unit?

The new version is close to release. We are near the end of the beta cycle.
-
Perhaps the wording is ambiguous. Here is a better version.
-
I bet someone dropped during loading.
-
An odd and rare bug that seems to have been addressed for 4.2.
-
I'll test it when I get home today. You should already be able to upload .w3x, and now you can upload .w3m.
-
Is this still present in the most recent beta? If so, is it in random mode only?
-
Was it all of your towers? Or was it only towers of a certain type? Or? Also, how many towers are we talking about? Alternatively, can you reproduce it in a replay with proper file name and path?
-
I may have fixed that for the next release. It may very well be an odd WC3 bug too though.
-
As 13est hinted at, Mushroom received a remake and is no longer applicable. As for Magic (and Hail) autocast, that is an interesting idea. Anyone dislike the idea?

The tower could perhaps use a better tooltip. I'll look into that. The effect could be different depending on mode too. I also want to improve the "switch" icon. In regards to the concept though, wouldn't the "always closer" be worse? It seems like it would be limited for the player, thus removing micro and "fun" factor. It also would limit the tower usage more, and Vapor doesn't need to be nerfed. I don't think damage text above creeps is a good idea because it would clutter the screen a lot.
