  1. hmm i guess i kind of see your point now--the tower names do have to be taken into account as they are meaningful. in either case, not worth the trouble to go changing something that works.
  2. maybe i'm not understanding correctly. How is the proposed system any LESS memory based? from the way I understand things the new system is still basically memory based, but the memorization is a lot easier, and makes SENSE. Right now I never remember that quaker is F+E+N, i just remember that in order to build quaker towers, i morph them from blacksmith towers (chainmorph, actually =P). If we adopted the F->E->N hotkey system, I would actually remember that quaker is F+E+N and then next time I'm playing and i get those three elements, I'll already know what i can build without having to resort to query like i do now all the time. We already have U as upgrade, so why not this as well? Or would you rather nix that too, and have upgrading from quaker to earthshaker be hotkey 'E' instead of 'U'.... --not that the current system is totally inferior. I think the fact that the name can be associated with the hotkey is a good thing. I just think that associating the elements is a better idea, since the names are pretty much arbitrary anyways. ----also, it may really not be worth the time and effort to change the hotkeys, especially since the system we have now works just fine. but my argument is solely that the new system, to me, seems to make more logical sense.

    Hello there

ah, yeah, misread your element picks. makes sense then. let us know how VH goes
  4. as a side note, when i've used armorer, inciter, etc I always seem to be too busy managing my own things to move them around on the opponent's map...

    Hello there

nice! interest abuse is probably my favorite aspect of etd...seems like you might be ready to try VH~ You'll want more support than just lvl 1 nova and voodoo though... also i'm not sure it's quite a great idea to have so many sun towers. The effect doesn't stack if it hits the same creep, you know? but, good stuff, and welcome to the boards. ... now try getting over 2000 ronalds in VH random mode like i did (b^^)b
  6. well, it totally makes sense...only reason it would feel really unnatural is because we're already used to the current system. But yes, it does make much more logical sense.
  7. you forget, flame is out! i could have picked something more interesting but i did my pick this morning before class, I was damn tired...
  8. does flame get buffed by smith and well fully atm?
  9. see, i would rather there be 4 spots for it at 3...personally...
  10. dual removed: -flame triples voted for removal: -oblivion -windstorm -flesh golem
  11. it's also possible there are multiple varieties of this bug
  12. yeah the "towers not attacking" bug is pretty sporadic and happens rarely for no apparent reason. =( usually easy to fix once you spot it though...(just tell them to stop or attack, etc)
  13. my experience with the different games... metroid (NES) - great nostalgia, but not really that much fun ^^; haven't really explored this one much. metroid 2 (GB) - never played through it, unfortunately. Seems a bit weird. Super Metroid (SNES) - definitely the best for sequence breaking/speedrunning--there are just SO many things to do! reverse boss order run is perhaps the ultimate challenge...and there are many many glitches/tricks, like mockballing and xray climbing through doors =P. The physics in this game are more "floaty" than others. The control scheme is a little bit trickier, but you can get used to it. Fusion (GBA) - great game! At some points I thought the "main path" was a bit too obscure, but that's just me. There is no true sequence breaking in this game, unfortunately, because of how the item collection works, but it can still be used for speedrunning. Zero Mission (GBA) - also a great game! Neat to see some things back from the original metroid, but also great to have new things such as morphball shinespark that expand the game even more. I haven't done any speedrunning on this one... Prime (GC) - Ah, this was a great experience. Me and my brother did "mediocre speed runs" of this one--we planned out a route, and then gave ourselves a few practice runs, and then we recorded and gave ourselves ONE shot for each segment (no reloading if you screw up!). There's a lot of sequence breaking (space jump first!) and tricks in this one too. Prime 2+3 - unfortunately, haven't played too much of these...it seems like they don't really have the original charm that Prime had, plus there isn't nearly as much sequence breaking =(. Overall my favorites are Super Metroid, Zero Mission, and Prime...then Fusion...
  14. hahaha, holepercent, you better make the deadline a less harsh than last time, i don't wanna stay up so late the night before it's due again
  15. can also be very useful to prebuild for the next wave...
  16. i have done some metroid speedrunning--specifically, Metroid Prime and Super Metroid. I think speedrunning+sequence breaking is one of the greatest things ever! I haven't done as much as i'd like...but my last accomplishment was a 1:04 100% run in Super Metroid. Currently I'm planning to do an RBO (reverse boss order) run in Super Metroid. It's going to be very, VERY difficult. Doing lava norfair and fighting ridley without the varia suit is an absolute nightmare, and only a few people have done it under console conditions (I'm planning on doing it under console conditions, which means no savestate and no slowdown and no framestepping).
  17. price for pures i think is okay. I would prefer amped/refined towers maybe to be a bit costlier/more damage since then sell/rebuild would be a bit more viable.
  18. yeah single element towers are so cheap now...it's mind-boggling.
  19. snap, another SC player. what race? i'm starting to get back into SC nowadays...not seriously, but i definitely am forgoing WC in favor of SC...I'm a zergie but i'm slightly tempted to go random (!) just for fun. Only problem is, I hate matchups like TvT, TvP, PvP...xD
  20. (haven't watched replay yet) nope. jolin is one of the few who actually has the philosophy that selling towers in pick is okay! i also agree with that thinking, but i never have the guts to sell anything =P one reason is because higher tier towers are so much better, that sometimes it's more efficient to sell lower tier towers in order to upgrade. etc etc.

    warcraft 4

hey hey now, let's not be bashing on wc3 too much. sure, it's got lame stuff, but i've had some good times with it too...
  22. heh, yeah. flame was definitely not useable as it was in previous betas, but now...well, i like the fact that it stacks, but the damage reduction didn't really seem like enough. haven't actually tried it out myself though (aside from short tests)...
