  1. Plans for element tower wars are already in development..
  2. doubt the models have been decided.. (apart from custom builders).. might well happen that towers might change elements, abilities and therefore names..
  3. the regular forum draft could easily end up 6-ele too.. only the drafters agreed to stay away from 6-ele (and periodic being removed from the pool by draft host in the middle of the first draft and added into the rules after that.) in this case, even 6 ele you'll still need to draft a 'semi-balanced' set of towers or better. like you'll need cover for weakness, support towers, splash and ST balance and stuff..
  4. set to target ground rather than a creep.. makes for better elemental and leak catching..
  5. consider what mode we played and what mode you'll usually end up playing in a public game.. remember the FDS? 'passive' player interaction and making better decisions all feature.. the 'standard' build would invariably be tried by all players. but the players know that to win, they need an edge on others. the player has to predict what others would do and either do it better or do something different that beats their plans, giving rise to the $$$ opening with arrows and cannons to wave 30 among others.. which also leads to organised tournaments and league events, something which was planned but so far hasn't happened.. the old challenges were also a way to get players to try different builds.
  6. seconded. the forums wait 2 weeks to see a new post.. and what three? new replays released in a few months.. and most of the original leads are all gone from the game.. which means, it's about time to move to somewhere else.. so start with sc2, or you're looking at retail already? considering that bejeweled can be found on the shelves of a game store..
  7. which is why in the wc3 version, builder weapons start as enabled (to be disabled by host) to encourage active player interaction.. though too much interaction (how to define?) also detracts from the basic idea of 'tower defence'. if only more players stepped out of comfort zone and enjoyed the randomness of playing multiplayer -samerandom+chaos - getting randOOmed, learn a thing or two about rushing and not just focus on ronalds (which most do).. and get out of playing very easy just to horde gold, try other builds instead of life tower.. on topic, keep the core and basic ideas and expand something different from there.. see what new ideas the team can generate.. do something different while staying true to element tower defence.

Basic Tower Defence by holepercent This would be a guide of the fundamentals of any tower defence game, mostly drawn from element tower defence for warcraft 3 but can be applied to most other similar tower defence games. Basic Tower Defence The aim is to build towers to kill creeps controlled by the computer that travel a (mostly) predesignated path from a start point to a end point. In most cases, the player loses lives when a creep successfully reaches the end point. One interesting variation is where the aim to to leak as many creeps as possible as creeps split into 2 (or more) when killed. 2-pass and long pass A 2-pass placement refers to a placement of towers where the tower has two chances to kill a creep. The entire creep wave must be out of range of the tower at some point for the placement to be considered 2-pass. A long pass placement refers to a placement where the tower has only one chance to kill creeps. This is usually at the tip of U-turn points or turning points. The third placement is what would usually be referred to as bad placement, a placement of towers which is neither efficient or effective, though there can be exceptions where towers are placed for a specific purpose. Long range towers, which can cover almost the entire map, can be placed at what is usually considered 'bad' placement. Slows, armour reduction and similar. (in progress) Upgrading and massing towers.   11. this is only an issue in single player where the player chooses to play slowly and leak more than one round.. and the replays are rarely posted on forums.. in most cases, the player is gaining massive number of lives by life tower (ab)use.. remember time is a major factor in winning FDS... in multiplayer, you should be rushed out of game in short order if you leak more than once (unless everyone cooperates to play slowly and not rush each other out..)
  12. the tier3 duals are already stronger than the tier2 triples.. ever tried tier3 magic, gunpowder, ice, electricity? otherwise watch the replays from the guides..

  18. Open discussion: How has image creeps changed your builds? more splash towers are used? or image creeps has no major effect on your build setup.. balanced defence against undead, healing, image, mech and to a lesser extent, fast?
  19. it's not a new bug.. it happens quite rarely and randomly.. are there any common events in all the games? the replays analysed so far don't really have any common event that triggers the bug.. since the bug is not really reproducable..
  20. <- sends 60 composite undead creeps to karawasa. 75% sell or all towers sell for 100%?
  21. some in the set are quite badly played too with obvious misplays such as poor tower choices, missing interests and bad micro.. as long as you work out the weakness of the build, test different combinations and work towards not leaking and faster time.. some of the best single-player replays are probably (beta) FDS replays..
