  1. ...And that is where I have to step in. I don't think it is appropriate to continue to force xen's hand in replying. I believe he would much rather work on the game itself. If you're worried about the terms of the contract, please take it up with me. xen has proven to be reasonable, so I would be surprised if we can't come to an agreement. @Sancdar: The things that I would claim IP on are not related to the editor. I remember talking with Pendragon_ (from League of Legends, the retail DotA game) about this and I'm confident that we are fine in this regard. Models, icons, sounds etc. are out of our reach, but what really makes ETD is certainly not. PS: I'm happy to hear that you (xen) are fine with the forums being here (eletd.com). I think it will prove beneficial to everyone if there is one hub for the game itself. We will figure out how to segregate the versions later.
  2. I'll give you that assurance now. I don't see why the versions have to compete. They can't be uploaded to the same sites, and they are using different technology. Feel free to shoot me down people, but at first glance it would seem having two different implementations is a good thing (provided people behind both are cool with it, which would be the case). Practical reasons aside, I do recognize that you and your partner are the first team to make substantial progress towards my dream of a genuine Element TD experience beyond WC3. I know I've kept pushing it off, but I will draft a contract for us soon. That will put in writing this assurance.

  4. I like your mindset xen. The reason the original Flash Element TD brought in over $50,000 is because it was the first. The game itself blows .
  5. I too am curious if t3 duals are imbalanced now, both support and damage. In regards to more complicated towers, they will have to wait for a retail version. In the future, we will hopefully be able to expand the game and pursue some of the ideas that seem implausible now. In the present, the priority for development post 4.1 will be competitive balance and additional game modes.
  6. The tooltip mentions that the ability gets boosted. If you're referring to Well, then you're right that Flamethrower doesn't really benefit compared to Blacksmith. Disease isn't as bad, as Well at least increases attack speed for ability (and if you have enough corpses then you will get the effects of the bonus).
  7. I tried under not so harmless conditions, and I was unable to cause any damage. I built some Pure Water by the entrance and watched as I got to 1500 kills in under 30 seconds . Tested fine on VE and VH.
  8. Excellent report, thank you Cisz. I would like to hear what other people think too. This is the last outstanding issue preventing a 4.1 release.

    If the creep pathing can be confirmed as acceptable for all 8 areas (and with fast/slowed creeps) then I will release the 4.1.

    Hahaha, I forgot to change this back from my testing. I set it to 7 so testing creep pathing would not involve a 30 second wait every single time.

It fixes; -Major improvements to creep pathing -Ronald bug eliminated 100% (as a side effect they now have partial hp on lower difficulties, like elemental bosses) *Test creep pathing AND path buildable for each area please Element TD 4.1 Beta1e.w3x

    Fixed one bug but created another; I will look into this today. I too can confirm that 30 Ronalds on VH crashes the game under harmless conditions. As for creep pathing, keep up the input. I'd like to resolve it before the 4.1 because in the 4.0 the creeps rarely stay on the path itself which is not acceptable.
  13. This is the last issue that is making me hesitate on the 4.1 release. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could test the new creep pathing. Creep pathing? The movement of creeps along the lane. Here is what is important to me; -Is the pathing for all 8 areas the same? -Is the pathing superior to 4.0? Inferior? Why? -Is the pathing ok with fast units? -Is the pathing ok with different amounts of slow? Let's discuss and come to a conclusion about pathing sooner rather than later. That way, I can get the 4.1 out shortly.

    Honestly there isn't much I can do. The towers that are giving you problems are ones that are doing more complex operations. I will certainly take another look into the problem, but I suspect nothing will change. The heart of the matter is that normal usage does not involve the map being utterly full of towers. Normally it is better to concentrate your wealth in more powerful towers. If you're that rich that you can afford everything, then you really should increase the difficulty. I bet filling the map with non-complex operation towers would still result in considerable lag though (but graphic lag instead of code lag). Essentially it boils down to too much commotion.

    1. Would require new models for all three towers. I would be happy to do it (because frantically clicking sucks). Any suggestions? 2. Because Quark utilizes the Damage Detection System. Basically, stuff happens every attack that does not happen when other towers attack (like Light/Darkness). 3. Now that sucks. Can anyone else confirm this? 4. Steam Tower still has a fiery look that I need to change.

    Yes, a stress test for Ronalds would be great. 1500 kills is the cut off point for the upgrades, so if you make it past that you're fine. More importantly though (because it hasn't been thoroughly tested) is the new creep pathing. Do creeps move properly (for the most part) on all areas? With fast creeps? With different amounts of slow? What is your reaction to the new pathing?

  22. It is absolutely true that I gave my blessing for this project. It looks as if you guys are having a healthy debate so I won't interject further.
  23. The standard example of the CC does not really apply here. An authentic Element TD port is going to be far more complex than anything the CC has done. The CC guys are great at stealing gameplay ideas and making them into simple and addicting games. They don't have the vision that we do, and I doubt you will ever see something of this level from them. Flash 10 doesn't just come by default. I'm pretty sure you have to download, or at least update something. I don't see how that is any better than installing Silverlight. Ethics aside, MS is behind Silverlight and for the majority of the world that uses IE that is a trusted name. How to win people over? Simple, show them the end result. Word spreads on the internet fast, so if our game lives up to expectations then it will be fine.
