I was assuming you'd milk interest by building the minimum needed to kill the wave. This is more inclusive than sell/rebuild (as you just pointed out).

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. Now the Gold Tower of 3.0 days was a different story .

Maybe I missed it, but wouldn't the other half of the story be the gold amount you get playing it out and getting 2x interest? Also, were you in a position to even complete wave 16 if absolutely nothing was built and the wave was running?

The purpose of my post is to try and raise the bar that people aspire to. In fact, a fair amount of people do claim some sort of title when their feat was achieved on VE. If it was just HowardMoon then I wouldn't have been inclined enough to make this post. I am not saying that only VH requires skill. I am simply saying that VH requires the most skill. I'm not going to lie, I think it is more interesting to watch someone smash a lot of Ronalds on VH as opposed to VE. To that end, it would be nice if people progressed upwards as they get better instead of staying on VE. However, there is no reason to withhold replays. So regardless of difficulty, if it is a game well played then it is a game worth sharing. There are players of all skill levels on these forums, so someone will enjoy it. The advantage of Short Mode is debatable. But no one disagrees with the fact that it's a minor factor. The difference between VE and VH is night and day while the difference between normal and SM is midnight to 1 am. So, technically you may be right but no one should care. -
Well there seems to be enough activity with replays that I ought to release a 4.3b. Let's see what I can do.

It is certainly possible to have that 1000 gold on VH at level 16 without SM. The number was initially an estimate but confirmed by several VH games played by an expert (not me). I would say that picking Short Mode actually is a disadvantage. Even on VH you lose a tiny bit of potential gold and this number gets larger as you go easier. I don't think we need to require normal length for Ronalds. The first 15 levels can be boring (that's why I invented this mode) and I don't think it requires massive skill to pass them without leaking. Extra Short Mode is a different story. While the gold amount there (6000) has been tested too it is a newer addition and wasn't tested as thoroughly. Thus, I would definitely argue against allowing this mode for Ronalds. That, and it certainly is possible to leak in the 16-30 wave segment. It starts too late in the game and the decisions you make levels 16-30 are big ones.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade. But the question of difficulty level does need to be addressed. There is not equality. For example, 500 VH kills is worth more than 1500 VE kills. In fact, it's probably even less VH kills for that balance. This is because you end up getting less gold on harder difficulties (even with the 4.3 change of bounty reduction on lower difficulty). Not to mention the Ronalds are a ton tougher themselves in VH. I bring this up not to discourage people from submitting replays on difficulties lower than VH. By all means please continue doing so as most players are not VH ones. Rather, I just caution against using claims like "I am the best" unless you did it on VH. -
Is there a particular reason for this? I understand the feelings running between you two, but at least keep the negative comments attached to something relevant. If you want to call him a noob for a bad replay (not saying this one is bad) or something that is different than just a flame by itself. In the context of a larger discussion the former at least advances the conversation while the latter adds absolutely nothing. Let's try and be at least somewhat civilized. Now with that being said, I will say that this thread lacks a mention of difficulty level. There is a huge difference between 100 kills on VH and 100 kills on VE...

The problem with any sort of movement disruption (not reduction) is the imbalance. It is simply not fit for a game where you can mass the ability. When we get around to hero mode for SC2, that will be a different story of course.

I couldn't get his replay to work either. It may be that the version of WC3 he used is older though. Someone else said they got it working, what WC3 version? On a side note, you can attach replays to your post so no need for uploading sites (not @ HowardMoon). At this point, I think everyone wants to see a live duel .

Indeed, a duel would be the best way to solve this. Obviously, SR in a live match is preferred. But, if you guys both use the same agreed upon build then a replay format would work too. I'm glad to see some competitiveness here by the way. I hope it will continue with the SC2 version .

Changed my mind. We are resuming work with a more solid team. Private beta expected in a month or so.

I've had time to think about this. In spite of my beef with BNET 2.0, I decided that developing ETD for SC2 is actually not a waste of time. Thus, as of now we are starting up again. This time around I am focusing less on manpower and more on expertise and reliability. No one believes my deadlines but the goal is a private beta a month or so from now.

As mentioned in the other thread, this is no longer in development. In summary, BNET 2.0 has decimated custom games. I find that it is not worth my time or effort to develop in such an environment. This is not the end of Element Tower Defense however. Though it be in the future, we will cease being a mod one day.

It probably won't surprise anyone to learn that I've called this off. The reason for this is the abomination that Blizzard produced with SC2. Specifically, BNET 2.0. For those who don't know, the modding community has all but died off due to this. Furthermore, Blizzard has no intention of fixing things anytime soon (melee is their focus). I apologize to all who have been waiting for this version. With that being said, this is not the last time you will hear about Element Tower Defense. Let's just say that the day will come when ETD is no longer a mod.

We've had some delays in getting things together. I know it's not reassuring to be without a time frame. But, we've made a lot of progress and things are continuing along.

We are a little behind schedule. I still proclaim that once we get a playable beta done then a public release is only a few weeks off. But, we have yet to get there. Currently aiming for the end of the month for the beta.
