To be frank, I think Rainbow as an idea might get the axe. I don't see a way to salvage it, rather I would like to brainstorm a new idea and replace it altogether. That is why I cannot emphasize enough the Tower Ability Wishlist thread. Getting a pool of potential abilities and characteristics is essential to move forward.

I'd like to decide once and for all whether host selection is a good idea or not. I don't play BNET really, so I'm not in a position to say whether it works or doesn't. Please vote and weigh in.

Yes, it is 25, and default is 100. Every single single target slow is getting redesigned, so we will have to see what comes out of it. As for the speed, it should be high enough where slows cannot automatically win you the game.

Agreed, there is another thread about this though. One idea is the Hydra idea. Giant Ronald spawns, you kill it and then he splits into two more. Rinse and repeat until you either lose or kill him off. Another idea could be this damage idea, but I think that is unfair to splash builds.

Gives strength to attacks, causing them to deal greater damage the further away the target is. Update, see below.

Brainwashes a creep, forcing it to move toward the spawn instead for X seconds.

This ability would be passive. A tower with this ability would cause a rock/comet/meteor to fall from the sky into the ground every X seconds. It would fall to a random location within a certain AoE of the tower. It would do high damage, and would have a nice special effect (graphics, but not excessive to prevent lag) for impact. Level two of this ability would cause more than one rock/comet/meteor to fall. In the future we might want to add a special effect for impact, like slowing or stunning creeps. For now though, leave it as just damage.

Broud appears to be talented. I think it would be great if he worked on the site. If you want to ask him, that would be great. As for payment, I'd be willing to pay him $25-50. Free would be nice of course, but I'm sure he hasn't heard of Element TD so I expect to dish out some $$$. Thanks

Perhaps resistant would be alright, but Cisz is right when he says that immune is not viable. Regardless, I think the game is fine with the four categories now, unless we want to brainstorm some new ones.

Yes, it is actually extremely easy to do. All you do is set mana cost to 0 for a spell.

The thing is, DotA jacks from other sources a lot. Thus, I do not feel bad or morally wrong for "jacking," their abilities. However, I do agree with you that every ability needs to be thought out and carefully considered. It is my hope that forum users will generate enough ideas where the DotA ones are inferior and not even considered. But, truth be told DotA has some good ideas that I think work well within the map. Consider "Impetus," for instance, it is quite unique and places great emphasis on micro for the tower. Players will have to make sure that the tower is attacking creeps that are moving away from the tower, and will have to carefully consider placement to maximize damage.

We have a more than qualified JASS coder on the team, so if you can think it up, chances are he can code it. Do feel free to take ideas from other games (like DotA) if you want. The rules of this thread are simple, only post hero ability ideas. Do not respond to other posts, I want this thread to essentially be a list of potential ideas (so it is easy to look through). If you need to really discuss something, make a new topic on it.

This will be a list of potential abilities that I am considering putting into the game (FOR HERO MODE). Aura: Heartstopper Aura: Causes creeps in AoE to lose 1% of hp per second. AoE increases with level. Single Target Spell: Reverse Time: Sends a target creep back to the spawn. Devolution: Devolves a creep by X level. Gravitation Nova: When cast it throws all enemy units towards target. Recycle: Casts on a tower to increase sell value. Pseudo Damage Spell: Tainted Ground: Cast on an area, all enemies who enter lose % hp per second. Judgment: Causes target creep (or creeps if AoE) to take x% more damage. Insidious Beacon: Conjures a beam of negative damage at a nearby enemy that jumps to other enemy units too, and deals damage depending on the current amount of hit points lost. Each jump deals less damage. Ultimate (all heroes): Replenish: All spells on cooldown become available for use.

This will be a list of potential abilities that I am considering putting into the game. Please discuss what you like, want, and don't like. Meteorite: Tower hits a random spot within the tower AoE (some radius). Doesn't directly target mobs. High damage, medium AoE damage. High risk, high reward tower because you are not guaranteed a direct hit on creeps. *Approved* Impetus: Gives strength to attacks, causing them to deal greater damage the further away the target is. *Approved* Possession: Brainwashes a creep, forcing it to move towards spawn instead. *Approved* Stackable Release: Tower has some ability that is pretty good. Every X attacks the ability becomes available for use (so you charge it up). Another version, is that every attack actually "charges up," the ability and so it gets better every attack until you choose to use it. For the ability, my initial idea would be something like an Ion Cannon. This could go on the "Laser Tower," and so it is an AoE instant damage spell. *Approved* Reflection: Towers can link into each other, getting damage bonus and combining their attack into one. *Approved* Time Warp: X second after this tower attacks a creep, that creep will be teleported back to where it was when it got attacked. X% chance of firing. *Approved* Frostbite: Freezes a unit for X seconds. If that unit is attacked while frozen, it receives double damage and is unfrozen. *Approved* Teleport: Blink but for structures. *Approved* Illusion: Creates an image of a tower, which does X% of the original unit's damage. *Approved* Rupture: When casted on creep, will speed it up. Creep will take damage based on how fast it is moving. *Approved* Rot: A passive AoE slow and damage over time ability. *Approved* Hand of Life: A tower that deals more damage if the current hp% is stronger. *Approved* Greed: A tower that gives gold to the player per attack, based on how much damage it does. *Approved* Mortar: Long range AoE tower with minimum attack range. *Approved* Soul Reaper: Tower that gives one life for each undead kill. *Approved* Rage: Tower gains attack speed for every attack, after X seconds of not attacking it loses this bonus. *Approved* Chain Lightning: Casts chain lightning that increases in damage every bounce (as opposed to decrease), after a few bounces it starts selecting random creeps to bounce to.

Yes, and as a part of that, we need to finish "redesigning," each tower. Once that is done, we can do whatever we want in terms of element makeup, and of course name.

I am considering the idea of hiring someone to redesign the site. For $50-100 the site could be redesigned, and it would look immensely better than it does now. It would be nice to find a good designer on these forums though, so perhaps give it some time.
