  1. It seems we are one aoe slow tower short, as glacier and ice are to similiar. I've done some thinking, and came up with a few ideas, but maybe you have better things to offer. None of my concepts really make a big difference to existing towers. 1.) Make the tower affect the ground, so that it gets sticky, or muddy, or slippery. The creeps over that part of the ground get slowed. 2.) The target is a single creep, it get's a debuff that will slow it and the surrounding creeps. The aoe moves with the creep and is lost when the creep dies. 3.) Similiar as 2, but the debuff is aplied instantly to the targeted creep and the surrounding ones, as if a nova tower goes of on one creep. Think of a shocking blow hitting the creep and shaking up the surroundings. 4.) The tower fires multiple single target slows at different targets. Not to good yet, feel free to help out wiht your ideas.

    Tower Redesigns

    I take "redesigned" as "axed and replaced". Most towers don't need that imo. -Moon Tower -Clay Tower A bit weak, but a nice addition, as any single target slow. Makes a good build better. Keep. -Poison Tower Not so weak, but doesn't work on mechanical. Nice as it is. -Money Tower The +% on bounty effect is a good bonus, but the tower needs to be weaker that a non special effect damage tower. Make it a tripple, dmg slightly down. -Death Tower -Drowning Tower -Crypt Tower Insta-kill tower are a great addition on rnd, and suck on pick (until someone finally comes up with a way to use them on pick). But in rnd they are so nice, we should have some in the 3.1. Maybe only 2? -Gemstone Tower A bit cheesy, as you can easily mass stun an entire wave. Even on multiplayer, if it's samerandom. -Roots Tower Not as cheesy as gem, less usefull as single target slows, redesign. -Metal Tower -Infernal Tower Multi shoot towers are a bit weak so far. Either they have to have enough damage to make up for their lack of dmg vs sinlge targets, or they should be duals. -Dinosaur Tower Great tower. Very short range and huge aoe damage. Hard to place, needs slow for optimum effect, uses totally different way to play it, gives deversity. -Electricity Tower The best single target long range tower, but still bad. Away with it. -Laser Tower -Hail Tower I'd love to see a concept to make long range work, but so far it doesn't. -Glacier Tower Between ice and glacier, I'd like to keep ice. But we need a new aoe slow to replace glacier. -Sludge Tower Damage tower with a single target slow - nice idea, gives diversity. Only splash dark on the map. -Rainbow Tower Composite single target tower. If gold gets nerfed and lighning axed, the only composite sinlge target tower on the map. Gives diversity, keep. -Undead Tower -Tidal Tower No opinion yet. I somehow like them though..

    Flesh Golems

    I agree that they start out to weak, but good later on? The have a bad damage type and don't splash, so I don't use them outside of rnd. And on rnd I consider myself a lost cause, if the best I can come up with is flesh golem. (And on sr I still win, that is, all others die even faster with golems. ) Has anybody an example of owning the map with fleshies?

    Strategies

    Go to http://www.eletd.com and click on [2 Element] and [3 Element] for a complete list of the duals and triples. Single target slowing towers: Moon, poison, clay, sludge. Aoe slowing towers: Storm, nova, ice, glacier. (Ice and glacier don't stack.) Stun towers: Root and gem. Splash damage towers: Earth, fire, water, lava, flamethrower, sludge, summoning. Other aoe kind damaging towers: Sun, ice, storm, nova, dino, steam, acid, glacier. (Tidal does pretend to have aoe damage, but that's not really true.) The mentioning of the lowest level of a tower usually includes all higher levels around here. Just a habit of the forums, to keep things short. And yes, you can win the map with first level towers only, but that wasn't what I tried to tell you. Sure - le is money, and thats a tower that can win the map by itself (Replay gold only), so the real question is what to do with f and w. As storm is the strongest slowing tower and is made of lfw and includes ice (wl), you get a very strong slow combo on top of gold. You could either play gold only till wave 36 (see above replay for details) and add a storm and ice later, or go for early storm (wave 19 or even 18 if you are an expert) and surrond it with goldmines. If you like pures, you could build some, but you don't really need to.

  10. Most of the filesize of 3.0 is the loading screen. Nice as it is, simply using a less space consumig gfx will reduce the map size by 50% or more.

  12. Thats about it if you don't have über-slow. The concept is explained in far to much detail in the chapter about two pass here (the lenghty guide again). Try playing on the right ledge, as far down as you can handle. If you are really good and get the feeling you even want to move to the lower ledge (from between 6 and 3 to between 2 and 3 numpad notation), switch to playing far left instead (area 4). If you can't get this to work, maybe post a link to a replay and we can comment on that.

Like this: Numpad notation explained. ...and if you want much more information, I mean really much information, maybe even to much information on tower placement, you can read this guide (not finished yet) about placement. But maybe you don't have two hours to read the whole thing, so maybe you can ask more specific? What towers are you using? Do you have a favourite build?

    1 More lumber

    Imo each essence equals rougthly 10.000 extra gold, if you build a proper pure (splash). With a typical net worth of maybe 100k after wave 60, one extra essence won't change much and slightly reward players that have kept extra cash on pick. (Slightly because you can sell/rebuild, and not only on rnd, so players that don't have to relocate the money into the pure to get the 10k bonus on pick won't lose 25% of the worth of the pure, which is about 20k. So a player that has to sell/rebuild on pick to make use of the extra essence get's only an effective 5k.) I'm a ronald hunter, so one more essence wouldn't hurt at all.

    Why the extra lumber anyway? Would the map become better, if it gave you 30 lumber in each game? The map is limited in what you can build in one game. Is 11 lumber enough to win? Obviously yes. Would it get easier with 12? Of course. With 12 lumber you can max out all tripples in every game. So the only difference bewteen triple-heavy builds would be the order of elements. With 30 lumber you could max out the elements in midgame. So to add more wood would lead to less diversity, the end games would all look the same. Most or all towers available, no need to find a sollution for a missing type of support effect. And the map would become easier. After many players that love the map spent a year to learn how to play it and nowadays find vh to be actually quite relaxing to play, you want to make it even easier?

    Sun tower needs a buff

    Yes, on normal. I don't think the tower needs to be stronger if unskilled players can't win vh with it, if skilled players find it to be to strong. The highest difficulty levels need to get even harder in the next version, because of all the tricks and strats that have been developed in the last year. The map is nearing a new level - the level of competitive playing. So it needs to be balanced on the highest level. The goal is 1on1 with pick, and it should be possible to win with at least 5 of the 15 4-element-builds. Imagine the eletd WCG finals, and every player uses mass sun only. (And the EGtour get's sponsered by sun microsystems..) As a composite damage tower with support it's great imo. (You did see my replay?) And I agree with the tower beeing to weak for early game, as damage towers usually have the power to solo or work without support for a longer time. What is it that you think the tower cant do? Maybe I can get a challenge?

    Host Selection

    Please clarify. Are we talking about removing all choices from the host? Like the "-norace" and "-sr" commands? In that case I will vote against it. Or are we talking about removing only the menu and keep the commands? Then I'm indeciseve yet.
  22. You can even beat all waves up to and including wave 32 with non elemental super arrows. So, if you want to micro, play rnd. Thats exactly what it's meant for.

    Offensive Towers

    Net worth does not equal beeing in the lead. If I play dwarven style and you go lfwdn, you are in the lead and I have the gold. Same with life. I play picked lfwd, you are on rnd and hit edfn, you "lead" after wave 14. And allways hitting the next person in line leads to noone wanting to play right of the host anymore. I mean, come on, the usual public player stands no chance under the pressure of a player like you or me. The most fair version would be that it affected all players, but if each player has one attacking tower, it's pretty much game over, or the effect of one of them would have to be kinda weak. This whole thing sounds pretty similiar to "starting the next wave early", so it's not exactly a new feature. Besides, I don't like games with high player interaction. That's exactly the reason why I don't ladder or play DotA.

    Rainbow Tower

    We have? Or do you mean long range single target towers? Long range towers suck ofc. Rainbow and gold are the only short/med range single target towers with composite damage.
