I think a "Choose Your Difficulty (but only the difficulties I want you to choose)" mode is completely against the idea of being able to choose your own difficulty, and is also a compromise that satisfies no one. Changes to the countdown timer are sufficient in solving this problem. Before we go about changing the countdown timer though, I think we ought to determine how fast each difficulty is expected to finish a level.

  3. If I use both lv.1 well and lv.1 blacksmith on one tower, that tower gets a 56.25% damage boost right? Why do I only get 50% boost with a lv.2 blacksmith?

To eliminate the needless 30 second wait for a game with only VE players, you could have a system that not only takes into account who finishes first, but also the highest difficulty played during that game. For example, something like this: [pre:3cor3qiv]vh: 20s h: 15s n: 10s e: 5s ve: 0s[/pre:3cor3qiv] wait time = (highest wait time) - (first finisher's wait time) + 10s When the first player finishes, the wait time for his difficulty is subtracted from the wait time of the highest difficulty currently present in that game. Then 10 seconds is added to that (so we don't have zero wait time).
  5. I haven't downloaded it myself, but it seems very unfair to have nature and earth blocked out like that.
  6. I think that is completely uncalled-for, since 99% of players don't care which interface they use. You don't have to mention up front that the interface can be changed, because it's hardly worth mentioning.

  8. I don't visit that much anymore, but when I do, I can never find the link to the forums. Okay, it takes me ten seconds more than it should. No big deal, right? That much time is still enough to cause all the skimmers out there to lose their attention. Hint: Attention is what you want. 'Return to homepage' could easily just be 'Home', 'Download the map file' could be 'Download' (or at least 'Download EleTD'), 'Visit the community forums' could be 'Forums', and so on. -------------------------------------------- Also, the main page is really wide (this is probably caused by the wide picture at the top of the screen).

  10. Karawasa: Well sorry I missed your comment by 2 minutes... As a general topic, there's no way to prove that a map is "official". And I do reaffirm that Nature doesn't translate quite well.
  11. Seems suspicious, seeing as Karawasa never mentioned such a thing. The only thing I noticed is that "Nature" can't translate well.

  14. It seems as though no one ever plays or cares about Easy or Hard. You have your Very Easy guys, your Normal guys, and your Very Hard guys. So why bother with 5 difficulties? We only need 3. Easy and Hard are just in between. Then remove the "Very" from "Very Easy" and "Very Hard" and you've got simpler names too.
  15. You could make the switch time longer than the original build time, but then there's a small problem with implementation (analogous to the small implementation problem for the "equal cost multiple upgrade paths" discussions).
  16. I think composite is fine, although you could loosen it up to 80%, since "80% of the players out there do not prepare for the upcoming wave", and on top of that, noobs will not know to pay attention to the unassuming name of "composite". But no we don't need to go back to 90%.
  17. Some days it's annoying to have so many numbers, and some days I wonder, "where are the damage numbers for this tower?!!!" So anyways, do we have a list for which towers show damage numbers?

  19. The pop-ups (as they currently are) are acceptable to me. The predictable nature of them is what makes them not as annoying.
  20. Golem => increasing damage Zeal => increasing speed so along those lines, => increasing aoe ------------------------------------------ And about mana, it's not a universal thing, so mana regen aura doesn't make much sense.

  22. I had known for awhile that no one had made an exact or very similar prism tower in warcraft. How sad. Maybe I'll study it.
  23. The problem is that 4.0 was developed with towers paired wih elements, rather than elements paired with towers. Originally, the towers made more sense but were less likely to be creative, but now it's the other way around. I wouldn't call it a problem though.
  24. Head under the "Advanced" tab in the World Editor. There you will find " Gameplay Constants" and "Game Interface." You can change the icons and tooltips for the attack and defense types, as well as the damage multipliers.
  25. Yea, but these thing are what separates a good game from a great one.
