i almost pulled off mass interest with no lvl 3 elements. I remember having zealot hydro, muck, and later roots flame and voodoo. I remember being able to build lvl 2 hydro as well so I think the build was all interest except for EEWWFDN. hm that's 5 elements not 4. I was surviving without Nature for a while tho. 1,000,000 Gold was reached in endgame. Simply ridiculous. Too bad at round 60 nothing seemed to do damage at ALL. which is why it's in bug reports. http://www.eletd.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&p=7935#p7935

All I can say is, i pity the person who gets trickery as their first dual, followed by well and blacksmith.

rather SR than AP. but even better is both =p. Then again, maybe my memories of AP are skewed by only doing 4-pick builds for ronald hunts. That was quite a challenge. Maybe 6-element AP builds are too overpowered... then again it'd be multiplayer anyways. So I know nothing of the game in that respect xD

i would hardly say 4.0 has "a lot of bugs". I haven't witnessed any real gameplay issues except maybe once in a blue moon. I hear 4.0 is more balanced too. ...not that i'm like, biased or anything *hardly remembers 3.0 at all* also, people would be very happy if you used very hard mode. also, people would be happy if you found a way to incorporate both all pick and same random modes.

i personally dont think it's that bad that blacksmith and well don't affect magic, roots, etc. the channel idea is interesting~

I kind of like the concept of towers that require differing placements in order to be most effective. I know that's kind of abstract, but for example kindle is best on a longpass, but ice is most effective on a corner placement. Mushroom and magic work best on a 2-pass with lots of time in between passes, whereas zealot is best on a 2-pass with little or no space in between the two passes. And then there's long-ranged towers like impulse which would probably be placed in the middle somewhere. Quaker is even more interesting. Poison is interesting too but kind of mediocre in the first place so it never gets used much =/ So it's already pretty interesting, but perhaps even some more concepts could be thought of that would be different than all of those. Dunno. Maybe towers that have adverse effects. Like a tower that does hefty damage but speeds the creeps up or vice versa.
-
kindle really loses effectiveness later on, but it can be used to solo creep waves in early-mid game. I don't know around what point in the game it works best, so I'm never gutsy enough to try it...but a single kindle placed at 5 can indeed solo some creep waves. Later you can turn it into a windstorm or something.

here: got randomed lots and lots of interest picks, and given my playstyle and how well I was doing on some of the rounds, I actually topped out on gold. But either at round 60 or on ronalds, you notice that my towers suddenly stop doing appreciable damage. At first I chalked it up to just composite armor being tough, but then I noticed the numbers coming up due to voodoo, and it should have been much higher considering the number of zealots. 7-6-08 eletd(4pb vhsr) multi maxgold-bug at end.w3g

the nature of kindle is such that it does not benefit from a two-pass placement--the best placement is a longpass.

kindle stacks. Says so in the description (unless there's some bug, but afaik there isn't) I'm not sure if tornado stacks. The slow definitely doesn't stack, but I'm not quite sure about the damage. I would guess that it doesn't, since I'm thinking it's treated as a status effect like corrosion (you can see the tornado buff in the enemy status). Different slowing towers definitely stack. However, the maximum speed reduction is capped at 66%, so any other different slowing towers past that won't have any effect, in terms of slowing creeps. So if you had monsoon, supernova, and roots, then adding ice towers wouldn't provide any additional slowing. If you want to slow them even more your options are indirect slowing through hydro and jinx.

well, afaik there's really no way to convert older replays to work with newer patches. so you're either going to have to use a downgrade/etc or you'll have to wait until we make some new ones. Although I don't know when that'll happen. Especially if you specifically want the ronald hunt ones. maybe the new wc3 patch, will be an inspiration to release a new version of eletd soon~ haha, only in our dreams...
-
i see, i see. so it's more of a diplomacy kind of thing. interesting~
-
explain to me why it's necessary to specify the "tier" for elements if they're all downgraded to the lowest possible anyways? wouldn't it be the same if you just voted something like earth, water, fire, earth, nature, nature ... and then at the end just add them together (earth1, earth2, fire1, nature1, nature2, ...)?
-
ah yes. didn't think about that.

I'm not really playing nowadays (though that'll change if/when a new version comes out ^^) but i still have a bunch of replays lying around if anyone is bored and wants to be a replay monster. I have a lot of replays where I don't do so well and end up losing, and a few where I was trying an altnernative 4-pick build, i think FLEW instead of FLNW, which didn't work too well. But there are also some good ones in here (the filenames are self-explanatory). So, for those of you who want to see insanely fast building and lots of interest abuse, here's the pack. rar'ed and uploaded to filefront. if you can't extract rar files, then shame on you. you should be able to. http://files.filefront.com/ddrkirbyisq+pac...;/fileinfo.html I'm calling this "replay pack 1" in case I decide to have some more. feel free to comment on overall play, though since some of these are earlier I may already know better by now. Also this should include all 4 of the current ronald hunt record replays.

the missing hp idea is interesting. Kind of the same effect as drowning tower though, just more gradual. would stack well with polar, yea?
-
hahahaaha~

not actually that bad, compared to some other message boards i've been at. At one of them, one of the admins received a sort of legendary status for only showing up once in a blue moon. Someone took a screencap of the bottom of the front page that showed he was online once. It was epic.
-
wow, sounds interesting...~ though I'd really have to write all of it down on a piece of paper to refer to o_o; I already use tower query like once every 10 seconds, literally.
-
interesting, didn't know other wc3 players did that. outside of eletd i just play 2v2 AT on bnet ladder with my roommate so...there's no real need for vent ^^
-
yea go play dota instead O WAIT~
-
IMHO it would be more helpful for someone to host some more games and tell us when, rather than have a chat server. then again I don't ever -search- for eletd games on bnet. So I don't know if that ever works. i dunno.
-
is that the level range where you just solo everything with nova? I forget. because of interest abuse, no games of TD are ever boring for me. well, except for the 1000+ ronald ones. those are the most boring. =(
-
maybe if it was just duals, then it would be manageable. Triples is way too confusing. 100% damage to all, would probably either: -not as good in random since it's always best to build 200% towers -need to have their effectiveness reduced overall somehow to offset the greater versatility (meaning they're even less effective in random). I'm not really considering elements with conflicting strengths/weaknesses because i don't think that's as important. I'm not saying it's a BAD idea, just saying what it would entail. interesting idea~

so complicated to remember ingame though xD
