  1. random is "easier" than ap if you get decent picks, since you generally should have more interest, so there's more money to play around with, plus your tower build is a lot more adaptable and you can fix mistakes (*i'm reminded of the time when I mistakenly upgraded to well instead of windstorm as my 2nd tower in an ap game*) and catch leaks and everything. But for me random is always more "stressful" since there's much more sell-rebuild going on. Of course that's partly due to my style as a heavy interest abuser, but whereas in all pick, sell/rebuild with elemental arrows/cannons becomes pretty much obsolete as you work your way past lvl 30, in random I aim to be doing it throughout the whole game. I also find myself constantly spamming tower query because I need to know what towers I can work with for sell/rebuild. that being said i tend to generally like playing random more than ap. =p

  3. Magic at 4? really? I would think that it runs out of mana too fast to really be effective at such a quick 2-pass. Though I guess in multiplayer it's at least better than 5, eh...
  4. yes! quaker->zealot->muck is what I tend to use a lot, since they all cover each other's weaknesses and are great towers themselves. Cisz do you mean that the minimum -speed- is 66% or that the maximum speed -reduction- is 66%? I've actually been wanting to know the cap for a while, since I always get the feeling i'm not being entirely efficient with slowing on ronalds/etc.

  8. i'd still rather just have kindle be useful early-mid game and decrease in usefulness, than have it be relatively useless until later on. it IS a dual, ya know.

  13. for random mode it really depends on what towers you are able to build. in general though (this is a very rough guideline) many towers of different types will be more useful than many towers of one type. however keep in mind that for purposes of selling/rebuilding, it's not feasible to build many different types of towers, unless you have uber micro (not even I can do this, and I build really really fast!!) selling/building is a skill, but it's more important to have the right towers and the right placement, than to sell/rebuild quickly and often. For starters, the first purpose for sell/rebuild is just to make sure you have the right type of towers for each wave. it really all depends. maybe post some replays and I can analyze your play. I may start hosting some multiplayer games if you want to improve. I could even obs you playing by yourself and give advice. if you have AIM or YM, my sn is DDRKirbyISQ and my bnet alias is DDRKirby(ISQ).
  14. no wai. imagine how easy ronald hunting would become. assume each kindle tower hits about 8 times. one lvl 3 kindle tower then reduces a creep's hp to 15%. two kindle towers would reduce it to 2%. three kindle towers would reduce it to less than 1%!!!
  15. what time -can- you play games? feel free to ask for advice for VH. though of course practice makes perfect. Now that I've conquered the Ronald Hunt leaderboards I'm on a bit of a break from actually playing eletd. Though, on the other hand, i'm looking forward to being able to play random again. I don't really like allpick quite as much, but I had to play it since I was going for the vh ap and vh ap cm records.
  16. i'm on west too~ i believe holepercent is from singapore too. i think he hosts weekly games on friday/saturday but I haven't seen it yet. I haven't actually had much multiplayer eletd experience at all... I might consider hosting some games periodically on USWest at some point. Also I consider my 2200+ record to involve at least a little bit of luck since I was able to get a pretty good build (though not 100% what I would wish for). You just never know in samerandom... still the networth was crazy, not having any more room to build towers and still having 15k gold. whoo~ very hard is where it's at tho ^^; if you can do well on hard random chaos you should definitely try moving up to VH.
  17. watch replays, learn about tower placement. you have problems with earth waves because the majority of your damage is light (electricity towers). in general for all pick mode it's usually better to build 1 each of 5 different towers, than 5 of the same tower. also, it's pretty much impossible to win VH without using slowing. support towers are very important in this game.
  18. yea i was thinking maybe nature because splash isn't quite as effective on ronalds since they're not always so clumped up (unless you kill them at 7 or something o_o;). but definitely not light or darkness...since range doesn't really benefit in ronald round...

  20. yes, it would help us all if you'd follow those guidelines if you post any more replays in the future (b^^)b also, 4.0pb VH AP CM 163 Ronalds not too bad. interestingly enough I did worse than I did with 4 element picks, even though I went into the ronald round with more lives IIRC (eternal towers were gaining lives throughout the latter part of the game). I guess my end tower setup wasn't exactly ideal. Either that or my networth wasn't high enough. Getting interest first really helped me when I did my 4-element build but here i can't really believe it's worth it to sacrifice lvl 2 duals. then again, when you think about it, maybe i didn't really make that effective use of having a 5th element. zealot and quaker are real nice for getting through the game, but on ronalds the effectiveness is not that great. I do gain enchantment, and polar/ice age, and hydro, which is good. but perhaps something like FLNWD would work better since you have muck and roots for slowing and voodoo can still give damage amp (and synergizes quite well with tidal). maybe i was just counting on the fact that blacksmith would really boost my main source of damage (pures) and hydro would serve as an alternative form of slowing.   23. 4.0pb VH AP normal, 4 element picks 255 ronalds hooray! Went standard FLNW, although ended up trying to take interest first. looks like it paid off, i had a lot of extra money at the end. end tower setup wasn't as well planned as it could have been. needed more supernova and especially more monsoon, and switch refined water placement with eternals. main mistake was leaking a lot on the way up to round 61 though. those shredders got me again =P It's surprising how much more difficult it was with one less pick at each point. 5-29-08 eletd(4pb vh ap)4ele255ronalds.w3g
  24. i feel like i've watched replays of a lot of people here playing but i've never actually gone and been able to play with anyone. would people be interested in some kind of weekly/daily match thing where we could all organize a set time or two for eletd.com forumgoers to have one or two games together? I know timezone differences are a factor here but i'm usually awake at pretty strange hours anyways xD... are people are just using the IRC channel for this kind of stuff? i'm never in there so i wouldn't know. (basically i hardly ever play multiplayer these days and i think it would be motivation if we had something going)
  25. 11 picks is almost enough to build every single lvl 2 triple o_o; can you imagine a game where ice age + witchcraft is allowed?
