Formula for seeding of player between rounds

I made a formula for seeding of player between 2 first rounds.

(a+ mod c=d

a is the number of the group the player played his first round.

b is the ranking the player got in the first match.

c is the number of groups there will be in the next round.

d is the number of the group the player will play in the next round.

We need it in written form, I dont understand it, you said you know how it is done, so rather you than me should write it down for later use in a tournament. Agreed?
