Hey there everyone.

I've been playing Ele td 4.0 beta a little bit here and there and today I did something that inspired me to check out the web site and forum.

I'm sure this sort of thing has been done before but I think it was fun.

I was (still am actually, it is in the background) playing a short mode, normal difficulty (gonna hafta try VH now), all random game. It is single player style so quite a bit more freedom was allowed for interest abuse. I didn't do any intentional leaking or things like that, but I was just playing very risky all game to try to take advantage of the fact that I started with two interests.

I ended up really screwing up on level 60, leaking down to 3 lives before ronald round, but I made it. The risky business paid off though. I know it was only normal mode, but I am still quite happy with my roughly 770k net worth. Then the building began!

By the end my elements were(are) level 3 fire, nature, level 2 light, and level 1 darkness. (2 interest and 2 ulty ponts)

With all of that money I had the chance to build whatever I wanted. The map is completely full, I can't think of a single tower I'd change, and I still have almost 200k gold sittin around. So I decided to start getting creative.

-Checkerboard of "Sun Towers" cover the map (so effectively 50% of the possible build area).

-Super Novas Spread to try to just barely get full map coverage (exactly 12 used, this was prolly more than needed)

-Voodoos spread around to try to get curse up at all points

This much alone was tooling on ronalds pretty good but it was clear that it needed some help if I expected to do over 3 or 400 rons. Given that I had tons of cash I decided to try something I've always wanted to try but never got the chance.

All of the spaces I had left over on the map (most of the checkerboard opposing the Sun Towers I made) I filled with Jinx towers. I always figured that if I did this it would delay things but wouldn't be the perfect fix.

Well it turns out that the slow from the sun towers (and the super nova slow for those not being hit by suns) was enough slow to create flow slow enough to seperate out the ronalds. Ones that got ahead would get bombarded by the jinxs that were previously sitting waiting, and get thrown backwards. The slow was significant enough that the thinning out of the ronalds happened in a short enough distance it seems possible that they will -never (virtually)- leak.

I'd love to share a replay but sadly I'd taken a break to do school work in the middle, so I saved and loaded the game, therefore it isn't possible to save replay (that and the game is still going, and I don't see it ending soon). I have a couple saves I can share for people to check out though.

First is the save from around level 30 (I think) when I loaded and started goin again. This one is provided just so you can see my net worth at that level, so you can imagine it being possible to get as much as I did by level 60 (although most was gained in the last levels (I went from 300k or so at level 56 to the 700k by 60).

Next save is at 1200 or so ronalds. Load it up and watch em just keep on dying. Right now I'm at 5615 and counting, but interestingly enough when I tried to save its current status it told me that I didn't have enough disk space to save (43 gigs free..... hmmm)

Bummer it won't save the replay! Also bummer I'm going to have to quit this game in order to restart and try to do it again on VH!

interest abuse is probably my favorite aspect of etd...seems like you might be ready to try VH~ You'll want more support than just lvl 1 nova and voodoo though...

also i'm not sure it's quite a great idea to have so many sun towers. The effect doesn't stack if it hits the same creep, you know?

Well I was in a bit if a pickle because of the elements I randomed.

With no earth or water my options for further support were limited.... almost non-existant. No tornados, wells, ice, roots, muck etc. All of my favorites weren't there.

I used so many suns not only because of their effect, but frankly I think they were the best DPS option I had availible to me (25k a hit). Also because of the fact that they slow single target, and Jinx setup I had going REQUIRED almost complete slow (and the first two flame tower levels kinda suck ass, but the slow on sun tower is incredible!), I wanted a large spread of the suns to make sure they're split up their targeting.

Oh the novas were super novas btw.

I dunno, I got up to about 6k kills before I just shut it down cause I wanted to start playing VH.

Thanks a bunch. I've been trying VH but turns out .... (oddly enough) it is in fact, very hard.

Part of the problem is that I'm used to playing short mode, so I jumped up to trying normal mode and VH at the same time (to try to make ronald records that count). So I'm not used to having to use arrow towers etc and make the transition to elementals.

Other problem is the lack of time between rounds, I'm not getting to abuse interest anything near like I was on normal difficulty. On normal it is laughably easy to abuse the time between rounds for cash.

Oh well, gonna keep on truckin.

Just died at level 50. Goin on to try VH all random once again.

interest abuse is very possible in VH (i should know more than anyone =P) but yes, it does require a quick build speed and good timing/knowledge to know what to build in advance. If it's too fast, then just fall back to basics--build the right towers and don't worry about the $$ =too= much.
