Co-op Trickery towers

Unlike the other 2 support towers, trickery isn't buffing allied towers. Just had a game, where my friends tower would place the debuff on my tower, but no copy of the tower was made.

Is this a problem with the autocast, or with directly casting the ability?

Both I think. Originally it was on autocast, and we assumed it was a bug with autocast not recognising allied towers, so he swapped to manual, and still it didnt produce a copy.
